This 48x36 Acrylic on canvas painting represents our heroes. The names of Congressional Medal of Honor recipients from Tennessee are painted into the sky representing all those who served in our military. Also painted into the sky are the names of those fallen Tennessee Law Enforcement officers from mid 1981 to 2016. They represent all the first responders who put themselves in harms way forming a wall of protection for the rest of us. As I painted these names, I thought about and prayed for their families and communities who sacrificed their sons and daughters for our safety. Although these are Tennesseans, they represent service men...
Oil Landscape by Artist Craig A. Stevens www.craigastevens.com CraigAStevens@WestbrookStevens.com I first saw a similar photo in a new car advertisement. I wanted to paint it because I loved the colors. I added a cloudy sky to symbolize an open window of opportunity that may be fleeing as potentially damaging storms roll in. The full field “ready for the harvest” and the empty barn also has symbolism. Although wheat would not likely go into that barn after the harvest, the symbolism reminded me of one of Jesus’s parables. From the King James Version ...Mat 9:35 And Jesus went about all the...
The Melting Pot Artist: Craig A. Stevens. Note from the artist - This painting is full of symbolism. First, it is a melting pot and not a salad bowl for a reason. The melting pot better represents the cultural alloy that make the U.S. strong. Out of many different cultures, we create our own. The American culture is so desirable that people have braved many hardships to blend into this culture and make it their own. The many states were designed to be customized to fit the beliefs of people within that state. The many counties and communities also were designed to...
When Craig paints on one canvas, he uses other canvases as palettes. As the focal painting progresses, sometimes other paintings are created from the palettes as he spreads the paint with palette knives. Often these come out pretty good. This was the pallette of the "Rally Flag Painting," Our Founding Principles." This painting is owned by the Premiere Speakers Bureau founder. Check out their website. Many times people enjoy owning the palette of other more expensive works. Craig enjoys doing this, he says, "As the palette paintings emerge and people see them, often they get excited and that makes me feel good. It...
Our Founding Principles is a 48 by 40 inch acrylic on canvas painting of a rally flag. This painting is the third flag in a series of three. Each flag tells a story. The first flag points to our resent past, the second flag looks at our contentious present, and this one points to how we can turn our country around by remembering the basics. The words of our founding fathers and others, written in the background, serve to remind us of our founding principles. Quotes from our Founding Fathers and Others Found In the Painting “…If you...
