Title – Nashville Nights
Oil on Canvas, Palette Knife
As the world gets darker people are drawn to the light. As during the day, evening/dusk, and then night, the smallest light becomes more apparent. Likewise, Christians will be more noticeable as things get darker. Christ’s light has to shine into darkness to give people an alternative to the darkness. This is the meaning of life for Christians. It is one of the requirements in fulfilling our God given mission and destiny!
This painting also represents a turning point in my life. Growing up, I always wanted to be an artist, however I was told I could not make a living doing that. So I became an engineer instead. Although I used my art to help pay my way through engineering school, I soon dropped it as I got a job as an engineer. I spent the next twenty years or so working and going to graduate schools to learn all I could about operations, organizations, change management, program/project management, and continuous improvement. During that time I developed a bunch of business models on how to improve operations and I am very good at that.
Then one day I was laid off with about 2000 of my closest friends. During that time of searching, one of the many things I tried was writing. As I finished the first Geronimo Stone book, I said to my self, “Self!” that is what I called myself, “I could create a cover for the book.” So I painted this painting and have been painting ever since. The book was really good and the cover looked great.
